Hello!
My name is Gerardo, and I’m excited to support you on your learning journey. I bring a strong educational background and a wealth of teaching experience to my tutoring sessions. I earned two bachelor’s degrees from the University of California, Irvine—one in Political Science and the other in Education with an emphasis on Childhood Development. I then continued my studies at the University of Redlands, where I completed a Master’s degree in Teaching and Learning, along with my teaching certificate.
Currently, I work full-time as a 6th-grade teacher, and I also tutor a family with children in 5th and 7th grades. My teaching philosophy is grounded in patience, understanding, and creating an engaging learning environment. I strongly believe in fostering a growth mindset—the idea that with practice, persistence, and effort, anyone can improve and achieve their goals.
My experience spans a variety of age groups and educational settings. I’ve taught first grade, worked as an after-school program teacher, served as a tutor at the Boys and Girls Club, and gained valuable experience as a resident substitute teacher. These roles have equipped me with a diverse set of teaching strategies and the ability to adapt to each student’s unique learning style. Whether working with younger students or middle schoolers, I focus on making learning accessible, enjoyable, and tailored to their needs.
I look forward to helping you succeed and develop confidence in your academic abilities!
