My name is Heather R. and I am an experienced educator with patience and empathy. I am knowledgeable in various forms of academic support, including learning disabilities, behavior issues, emotional disorders, and oppositional defiance disorder. I believe in positive reinforcement and self esteem building lesson development. I hold an MBA from Ashford University in Clinton, Iowa and a Master's degree in economics from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. In addition, I hold minor degree specialization in sociology, deviance, and psychology. Currently, I attend USC Gould Law School in pursuit of a juris doctorate and am employed by a prestigious law firm in Montebello, CA. I understand that children, teens, and young adults in need of academic support equally need emotional understanding and each need assessed as unique and addressed individually to achieve common goals. I enjoy tutoring because it is my contribution to society and helping students accomplish their academic goals gifts a true sense of purpose to me.
I possess an unique perspective and approach to teaching mathematics. If one method of instruction proves challenging to the student, I am skilled in alternate instruction methods that may be more adequately understood. I want to create a fun and comfortable tutoring experience that will improve skills, knowledge, and overall understanding of the chosen subjects.
