Hello there! Let me introduce myself...First of all, I have a strong love for children and for teaching. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Child Development and I have a multiple subject teaching credential (K-6). I have been working with preschool through elementary school for over 10 years. I have taught every grade, K-5 with most of my experience in the upper elementary grades. I currently work in a district and teach 4th grade. In between, I have been a private tutor working with elementary students in various subjects and grades. Some people ask me what my favorite grade to teach is and I honestly cannot pick a favorite! I never stop learning a long with the children.
What I enjoy the most about being a one-on-one tutor is that I am able to connect with the student on a different level. Seeing their improvement and knowing I contributed to their success is the greatest reward. I understand that every child learns differently and I tailor my sessions to fit the needs of each individual student. Along with homework pages, I include a game or activity in my session that fits what the student is learning. I know that worksheets can be boring, especially for younger students, so I try to make my sessions fun and educational.
It is also important to me that the parent communicate what they want their child to get out of the sessions. I feel it is crucial that we are on the same page when it comes to the student's learning. I have high expectations for myself so please let me know if you feel I am not meeting your expectations!
I specialize mostly in elementary education, all subjects. However, I am able to work with other subjects as well, just ask! I am mostly available to tutor in the evenings during the week. If you need to cancel, please let me know at least 2 hours before. I am happy to discuss a location that is convenient for you to meet for our sessions.
