Dear Scholar,
My hope is that you read this brief narrative as you are preparing and contemplating your next steps after high school. The college selection and application process can seem foreign, daunting, and downright confusing when you are still trying to enjoy your high school experience. If you will consider my skillset and experience to assist with this college access journey, I will do my best to utilize my scholar centered college coaching to assist with navigating through all of the various pieces some call the “college application experience”. i have been a credentialed K-12 school counselor for almost 20 years. I have worked with students, and families, from grades K-12 in addition to university level students. Most of my intensive college advising has been to middle school, high school, and university level students.
The many years of student contact has allowed me to develop a scholar/student centered approach whereby the young person drives the research and planning. As their coach, I create personalized inquiries as tools to guide the goals, passion, and purpose of each young scholar post-high school. However, not to merely “get to their desired” college campus, but to prepare to thrive there, too. All of this combined motivates me to meet students, and their families, where they are with what they know. Setting realistic targets and expectations with ongoing support is how I help students develop their own skills to thrive in their journey as future college students.
