My name is Hannah, and I received my Bachelor of Science degree from Tulane University, where I graduated Summa Cum Laude. I majored in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, with a minor in Cell and Molecular Biology. I served as a peer teaching fellow there for two years, where I assisted instructors in introductory biology courses and worked directly with students in small groups (15-20 students) to help review concepts and answer questions. I went on to earn my PhD in Biology from UC San Diego, where I published original research on the evolution of viruses and served as an instructional apprentice for courses in the Biological Sciences department. Specific college courses I have helped teach include Organismal and Evolutionary Biology, Evolution of Infectious Disease, and Ecology lab. I led discussion sections with small groups of students, helped generate course content, and graded problem sets and exams. Based on my broad experience in biology, I can help students with any biology courses at the middle and high school level, including AP Biology.
I love teaching and tutoring biology, and I believe strongly in the potential for every student to achieve their goals. Sometimes all it takes is a patient and knowledgeable mentor to help explain a tricky concept in a new way, or help channel your focus on core concepts before a big exam. I also specialize in test-taking strategies, and I can help you develop techniques targeted to the specific exam you a preparing for.
