I obtained my BS degree in Data Science from UCSB in 2023 and I am currently a graduate student at UCSD for Data Science, as well. I specialize in statistics and have done extensive time series research in my academic career. I’ve excelled in my upper division statistics and math courses at UCSB, revolving around probability theory, time series, financial mathematics, etc. I also work as a data analyst for an advertisement agency, so I have experience applying data techniques to real world applications.
I’ve been tutoring math and statistics for about 3 years now and have experience working with students of all levels, elementary to college level. I typically tutor locally in OC at public libraries or online. More specifically, I love to teach statistics at the high school and college level. Whether it’s trying to understand different data sampling techniques, probability, modeling, etc., I help my students understand these concepts by relating it to real world situations. Through this approach, students are able to identify practical solutions and strategies. I also help my students prepare for exams by providing sample tests and feedback.
I aim to help my students understand foundational concepts because statistics is actually more conceptual than it is computational! Understanding context and going back to statistical basics is critical, as everything builds off its simple concepts. My goal is to help students feel more confident as they may not feel like numbers are intuitive, but it in fact is! Learning the relationships between statistical theories and concepts is key to becoming a better statistics student and they just need the right guidance.
