Hello, my name is Spencer Harrison. I am an academic writing tutor with over 10 years of experience. I offer 1-on-1 writing tutoring sessions at any stage of the writing process—from brainstorming to proofreading. I can work with writers in any academic discipline and I also specialize in creative writing and grant/application writing. I can assist in writing college (or graduate level) application essays as well as scholarships/fellowships. After serving as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Kazakhstan 2023-2024, I particularly enjoy working with applicants for Fulbright scholarships or other prestigious awards/scholarships. I primarily work with high school, undergraduate and graduate students.

I have worked in the field of academic writing for over 10 years as a university level academic writing instructor and tutor. I participate in professional international writing tutoring organisations, and I keep up with the latest research. I have worked/presented in over 7 countries, and I currently serve on the board of the European Writing Center Association. I emphasize writing as a process, and I have a variety of strategies to assist the writing in developing their own unique process that adapts over time to the writer’s development. I enjoy assisting writers in uncovering their inner motivation for writing and crafting a narrative to help them achieve their goals. I also have a background in intercultural communication for writing in international contexts.

I have an MA in English and an MS in Education and a BA in English, and I have been trained as a university writing professor and tutor.
