Hi, I’m Milagros. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish teaching and a minor in Sociology. I’ve had the opportunity to travel to Latin America; Mexico, Ecuador, Peru and Colombia. As well as Europe and the Caribbean. It’s so fun getting to know people from these countries and learning about their culture, food, customs and traditions. They’re such beautiful and loving people and I love to share what I see and what I learn with my students in school or those I tutor.
I have four kids who have taken Spanish in High school and I’ve been able to tutor them and help them with one on one grammar concepts or verb conjugation in a fun way through games, or just review material that they don’t feel quite comfortable with.
As a teacher I use lesson plans in which I introduce the topic in a fun way by playing a game, playing music and make it a pleasant, non stressful experience. I work with each student at their learning level of Spanish and I encourage and support them in a positive manner because I know it’s not easy learning a language but yet, it is so important to do so! The advantages of learning Spanish can help students be able to communicate with extended family members, more inclined and confident to travel, able to speak and communicate with confidence and connect with so many people in our community.
This past year I worked as a Spanish 1 teacher at a junior high school. I was able to recognize which Spanish grammar concepts were more difficult for students, and I would review these concepts by first explaining the concept, and then playing games in class to help solidify the concept. As well as ensuring time for Student practice on their own.
I also provided after school help for students who needed more one on one time and helped them with their Spanish homework questions.
I’m excited to meet with you! I welcome any resources or suggestions from students and parents can provide. I am happy to schedule a free consultation meeting, and answer any questions.
