I'm Shunsuke, or Shun! I graduated cum laude from California State University, San Bernardino in May 2025 with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering with a 3.74 GPA. During university, I discovered first hand that the best learning experiences came from professors who explained complex material in clear, engaging ways. They were patient when I struggled, and always offered extra help after class and during office hours. After combining all these positive learning experiences together, I came up with my tutoring approach that I use today, where I make difficult topics approachable, and turn learning into something enjoyable rather than a stressful chore that you get nothing out of.
I've tutored informally throughout my life, helping classmates and also friends with subjects ranging from elementary math to college level calculus and computer science. Recently, I've been working one-on-one with a high school freshman on geometry. My teaching method combines hands-on learning, where I breakdown confusing concepts into steps, solve practice problems together, and ensure students actually understand the reasoning behind answers rather than memorizing questions. I also spent eight years in KIPR robotics, competed in dozens of events like GCER and Botball Regionals, and mentored teammates in programming, mechanical design and problem-solving.
Beyond math and robotics, I work as a Frontend Developer and tutor all areas of web development, from basic HTML/CSS to advanced topics like React/TypeScript and full-stack development. I teach students of all ages and skill levels, and adjust my tutoring style to match each student's pace and preferences.
