Hello, my name is Andrew. As a Joint Mathematics-Economics student, my major stresses the intersection of mathematics and economics. Although this intersection is very large, it is focused on providing a more technical approach to economics to undergraduates using a strong mathematical background. This technical approach has led me to become more detail-oriented and has given me a deeper appreciation for clarity and reproducibility of work. I also encourage learning intuition over rote memorization because I prioritize long-term results and applicability.
My academic background includes coursework in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Econometrics, Abstract Algebra, Calculus (1, 2, 3, and Differential Equations taken from the engineering sequence at my school), Linear Algebra, Introduction to Mathematical Proofs, and Introductory Accounting.
While I do not have previous tutoring experience, I have enjoyed contributing to class discussions and questions on platforms such as Piazza and Discord as well as helping a few of my fellow students to visualize concepts in Microeconomics and Econometrics in one-on-one sessions. In high school, I also served as a teacher's assistant for their equivalent of Algebra 2 and worked with young children in a church program.
