Hello! I'm Jennifer, a certified public school teacher with more than 22 years of experience helping students build confidence and achieve academic success. I currently teach Integrated Math 1 and Integrated Math 2 at a California public high school, and throughout my career I have taught both mathematics and English Language Arts in middle and high school classrooms. I hold a Bachelor's degree from Duke University, a Master's degree in English Education from the University of Georgia, and an Education Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Lincoln Memorial University. I am fully credentialed in Mathematics, English, and Foundational-Level Science.
In addition to my classroom experience, I have more than 10 years of online teaching experience. I have taught for a fully online public charter school, developed online curriculum in both mathematics and English Language Arts, trained teachers in effective virtual instruction, and served as a Pearson CalTPA Mathematics Assessor, evaluating instructional practices for future teachers. These experiences have given me a strong understanding of how to explain challenging concepts in ways that are clear, engaging, and personalized to each student's learning style.
My tutoring approach focuses on helping students truly understand concepts rather than simply memorizing procedures. I believe every student can succeed when instruction is tailored to their needs, and I enjoy breaking complex ideas into manageable steps while building confidence along the way. Whether a student needs help catching up, preparing for an exam, improving writing skills, or earning higher grades in math or English, I strive to create a supportive environment where they feel comfortable asking questions and celebrating their progress.
