I am currently in my final semester at San Diego State University completing my degree in Statistics with an emphasis in Actuarial Science. My coursework has been highly quantitative and includes advanced mathematics, statistics, finance, economics, and computer science. Because actuarial science is an intensive and analytical field, I have developed strong problem-solving skills and a deep understanding of mathematical concepts. I am comfortable tutoring subjects ranging from middle school math through calculus and statistics, as well as introductory college-level courses in economics, finance, and Excel.
Over the past several years, I have provided one-on-one tutoring to students from late middle school through college. Some of this experience has been paid and some volunteer-based through friends and family referrals. I have primarily tutored mathematics, including algebra, precalculus, calculus I and II, and statistics, while also supporting students in chemistry, biology, accounting, economics, and computer science fundamentals. My approach focuses on helping students understand the reasoning behind concepts rather than memorizing steps. I tailor sessions to each student’s learning style and prioritize clarity, structure, and building confidence.
Having navigated a rigorous major myself, I understand how overwhelming challenging courses can feel. I strive to create a supportive, patient environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and strengthening both their skills and their confidence. My goal is not only to improve grades, but to help students become independent and capable learners.
