I am currently a third-year mechanical engineering student at San Diego State University. I have a strong foundation in all levels of calculus, linear algebra, and ordinary differential equations. Additionally, I have completed several physics classes, including Newtonian mechanics, fluids, heat, wave motion, light, electricity, and magnetism. My engineering background includes circuits, mechanics of materials, statics, MATLAB, SolidWorks, CAD, and Excel/Google Sheets. I spend most of my free time applying these concepts to real-life situations, designing and building as often as I can. I am part of the Aztec Electric Racing Team at SDSU, where we apply engineering and math concepts to build an electric race car, which requires an understanding of math and science beyond memorizing formulas.
I currently have a 3.5 GPA and have been on the honor roll since beginning my degree. I have earned A's in Linear Algebra; Physics of Fluids, Heat, and Wave Motion; Statics; MATLAB; and SolidWorks. My tutoring experience includes one on one support for family members, friends, and classmates ranging from middle school through college level, with students approximately ages 12 through late 20s. While my experience has mostly been informal, it has involved structured problem-solving, homework assistance, and exam preparation, and I have witnessed the improvement in student performance.
When teaching, I focus on identifying what a student already knows, teaching them what they need to know, and ensuring that they understand the material well enough to teach it to someone else. Helping someone learn a difficult topic makes me feel fulfilled because I believe knowledge right that everyone deserves. I also enjoy tutoring because it helps me stay sharp on the material and remain immersed in it. I understand how challenging STEM subjects can be because I have experienced them myself. Tutoring helped me pass my classes with flying colors and gain a genuine understanding of the material. I look forward to making your classes easier!

Computer Gaming

I have built several gaming PCs including picking the appropriate parts considering performance, budget, and compatibility. I have been playing computer and console games my whole life and have been heavily into modding games for most of that time (15+ years). I have vast experience troubleshooting hundreds of games, software, and hardware issues. I ensure that games, mods, and other supporting programs are set up in a way that works best for both the system and the user.

My son enjoyed his lesson.

Andrew was put on the spot a bit when my son's computer decided to not cooperate. Andrew was pleasant, patient and friendly while working with my son to troubleshoot his issue and then transitioned smoothly into an introductory session that my son enjoyed and responded well to. My son is looking forward to having another session with Andrew in the future! Thank you!

Gaming Lesson

Andrew was extremely patient, kind and proficient. He was able to support my 9 year old son's use of the Kerbal Space program to create his first rocket and orbit using the properties of physics. I am confident my son will be able to successfully use this program for fun and the class he's taking that requires it. I will definitely book Andrew again.
