I earned my PhD in Organic Chemistry from UC - San Diego in the summer of 2019. While I was a grad student, I served as a Teaching Assistant for 15 quarters and supplemented the education of over 500 students. In Fall 2018, I earned the TA Excellence Award from the UCSD Chemistry Dept. I instructed all three parts of the Chem 40 series (A, B, and C) multiple times, as well as lab courses. First, Grant is a lifesaver. I was struggling and found organic two incredibly difficult due to the virtual learning. With a few sessions with Grant, I knew he was a great teacher. Grant helped me bring my F to a C+! I know this may not be a major difference to some but this grade increase meant the world to me. Having to re-take this class would have cost me a ton of money and time, things the average student does not have. Therefore, Grant's price is very reasonable based on how much he can help you! The greatest thing about Grant is that he can actual teach chemistry, unlike many actual Chemistry professors and universities. He is kind, down to earth, and more than willing to answer any question you have, without making you feel dumb, which is what my TAs in class loved to do. That's another great aspect of Grant, he is there to help you, not make you feel lesser or undermind you in any way. I would recommend Grant to anyone in need of Chemistry help twice over!

Great tutor, great guy- better ochem teacher than any of my profs!
Firstly, Grant is very fast at responding to your tutoring meet up requests. Like someone else said, he is great at getting back to you in the same day for a tutor session or within a short period of time. Secondly, from the lessons I've had so far, he is great with targeting your weaknesses and telling you how to work on them. Thirdly, he comes through with extra tips when he can think of them. I need someone to challenge me because the ochem series I am taking is particularly difficult relative to the standards of many other institutions. It seems he is happy to do that. Clearly, he likes ochem beyond just tutoring or getting by; he is very active in keeping his mind fresh on it in many ways, very multidimensional/next level understanding compared to just getting a random ochem tutor who only engages in it academically/1-dimensionally. So far, I have gauged that he is nice, understanding, quick, responsive, and a fun person. It has been quite helpful and I plan on regularly meeting with him because he is pretty fantastic. I would highly recommend him.

Grant helped me understand Peptide Sequencing and went over Mass Spec problems with me as well, he truly likes teaching and he doesn't run from a challenge!! He helped me tremendously with my upcoming final. He’s very knowledgeable about all topics and knows how to explain them well. We went over a couple of my professors previous exams, we mainly focused on s1,s2,e1, and e2 reactions. He knew these very well and was able to help me master them.
