I am a National Merit Scholar and a 2002 graduate of Baylor University and have been tutoring full time for the past 16 years, although I also tutored part-time during college.
What sets me apart from many tutoring companies is my availability and range of subjects, ages, and ability levels. While tutoring services also tutor all subjects and ages, even in-home companies charge per hour for each subject and send separate tutors. I also charge by the hour, but there is no limit to the number of subjects covered during that time. For example, you may have a seventh grader struggling with grammar and a junior in high school who needs help in pre-calculus and chemistry. A tutoring company would set up three different times and send three different tutors, each of whom would have to take time to understand your children. The service would also require you to purchase a one hour session each of grammar, pre-calculus, and chemistry. I, however, could come to your home for an hour or two and work with both students on all three subjects. I am extremely flexible and can tutor in your home, at your school, or in a neutral location, such as a coffee shop or library. I am also available at short notice and hours that fit your schedule.
I truly examine each child as an individual. I do not have a standard tutoring or teaching method. I tailor my teaching to the needs, abilities, and learning style of each student.
