Welcome to my profile! My name is Alison, and I am a physician with over 10 years of tutoring and mentoring experience. I earned my B.S. in Biology from Duke University and my M.D. from the University of California, San Diego. Throughout my academic and medical training, I have been passionate about helping students achieve their goals, whether that means mastering a difficult class, earning a competitive MCAT score, or successfully navigating the medical school admissions process.

While I tutor a variety of subjects—including K–12 math, biology, and the MCAT— my focus is primarily in mentoring pre-medical and medical students. My teaching philosophy is simple: every student is capable of succeeding with the right guidance and support. I focus on identifying the underlying concepts that students find challenging and explaining them in a way that makes sense for their unique learning style. Rather than simply reviewing material, I work to build confidence, critical thinking skills, and long-term understanding.
