I am currently an undergraduate student at the University of California, San Diego, studying Mathematics and Economics. My academic background includes linear algebra, differential equations, and statistics. I also scored a 1530 on the SAT, including a 790 on the Math section, giving me a strong understanding of the exam's content, structure, and problem-solving strategies.

I have experience tutoring students both independently and through a tutoring service. In high school, I volunteered to tutor algebra, precalculus, and calculus, helping students strengthen their mathematical foundations and work through challenging problems. For the past four months, I have also tutored with SC Tutoring, primarily helping high school students prepare for the SAT in a one-on-one online setting. These experiences have helped me develop my ability to identify students' weaknesses, explain difficult concepts clearly, and adapt lessons to each student's individual needs and goals. I also learned to better communicate with parents and organizing my schedule around students.

My tutoring approach emphasizes understanding over memorization. Rather than simply showing students how to solve a particular problem, I explain the reasoning behind each step so they can apply the same principles to unfamiliar questions. I encourage students to ask questions, think through problems independently, and learn from their mistakes in a supportive environment. For SAT preparation, I focus on strengthening foundational skills, recognizing recurring question types, and developing effective test-taking strategies. I am interested in tutoring students at various levels, from middle and high school mathematics to college-level coursework, particularly calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, statistics, and introductory economics. My goal is to help students improve their performance while building the confidence and problem-solving skills they need to succeed independently.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I am a Mathematics and Economics student at the University of California, San Diego, with a strong foundation in algebra and advanced mathematics. During high school, I volunteered to tutor students in Algebra 1 for free, helping them understand mathematical concepts, work through challenging problems, and strengthen their foundational skills. My teaching approach focuses on explaining concepts step by step, identifying gaps in understanding, and helping students learn the reasoning behind each solution rather than simply memorizing procedures. I strive to create a supportive learning environment where students can ask questions, build confidence, and develop the skills to solve problems independently.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I am a Mathematics and Economics student at the University of California, San Diego, with a strong foundation in algebra and advanced mathematics. During high school, I volunteered to tutor students in mathematics, including algebra, helping them strengthen their foundational skills and work through challenging problems. My teaching approach focuses on breaking down complex concepts into manageable steps, explaining the reasoning behind each solution, and helping students recognize patterns so they can solve unfamiliar problems independently. I aim to create a supportive learning environment where students can ask questions, build confidence, and develop a deeper understanding of topics such as quadratic equations, polynomials, functions, and exponential and logarithmic expressions.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I am a Mathematics and Economics student at the University of California, San Diego, with a strong foundation in mathematics and experience tutoring students as a volunteer during high school. I have helped students strengthen their mathematical foundations by breaking down challenging problems and explaining concepts in a clear, approachable way. My teaching approach emphasizes building a solid understanding of essential skills, including fractions, decimals, ratios, percentages, integers, basic equations, and order of operations, before moving on to more advanced topics. I strive to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, building confidence, and developing the problem-solving skills they need to succeed in algebra and beyond.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I am a Mathematics and Economics student at the University of California, San Diego, with a strong background in advanced mathematics. During high school, I volunteered to tutor students in precalculus and other math subjects, helping them strengthen their understanding and develop effective problem-solving skills. My teaching approach focuses on breaking down complex concepts into manageable steps and explaining the reasoning behind each solution, particularly in topics such as functions, trigonometry, polynomials, exponential and logarithmic functions, and graphing. I aim to help students build a solid foundation for calculus while developing the confidence and independent thinking skills needed to succeed in more advanced mathematics.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I scored a 1530 on the SAT, including a 790 on the Math section, and have spent the past four months tutoring high school students one-on-one online through SC Tutoring. I specialize in helping students prepare for SAT Math by strengthening foundational concepts, recognizing common question patterns, and developing effective problem-solving and test-taking strategies. My background as a Mathematics and Economics student at UC San Diego allows me to explain mathematical concepts clearly and help students understand the reasoning behind each solution. I tailor my approach to each student's strengths and weaknesses, with the goal of improving both their scores and their confidence.
