Bio

I am a fourth-year M.D. candidate at the UC San Diego School of Medicine with experience tutoring students for USMLE Step 1, Step 2 CK, and other high-stakes standardized exams. I am a fourth-year M.D. candidate at the UC San Diego School of Medicine with experience tutoring students for USMLE Step 1, Step 2 CK, and other high-stakes standardized exams. I passed Step 1 on my first attempt and scored in the 260s on Step 2 CK after improving from the 230s on practice NBMEs in about four weeks.

My tutoring focuses on identifying why students are missing questions, whether the issue is a content gap, difficulty recognizing the diagnosis, trouble distinguishing between close answer choices, or uncertainty with test-taking strategy. I use practice questions to teach high-yield content, clinical reasoning, differential diagnosis, pacing, and a repeatable approach students can apply independently.

Before medical school, I worked as a professional MCAT tutor with Blueprint and have several years of one-on-one teaching experience. I tailor sessions to each student's strengths, weaknesses, goals, and timeline, and can also help develop personalized study plans and adjust them based on practice scores and progress.

My goal is not simply to explain why an answer is correct, but to help students become more efficient, confident, and consistent test-takers.

Personal Statements

Personal Statements

I am a fourth-year medical student at UC San Diego who has successfully navigated the highly competitive college and medical school admissions processes. I have firsthand experience developing my own applications and have also helped others strengthen their personal statements and applications for admission to competitive academic and professional programs. I help students craft personal statements with a clear narrative, authentic voice, strong organization, and specific experiences that demonstrate their strengths rather than simply listing accomplishments. I can support students at every stage of the process, from brainstorming and outlining to detailed editing and final polishing.
USMLE

USMLE

I am a fourth-year medical student at UC San Diego with experience tutoring medical students preparing for both USMLE Step 1 and Step 2. During my own Step 2 preparation, I improved from the 230s on a practice NBME to the 260s on the actual exam in approximately four weeks. My teaching experience also includes tutoring and leading academic workshops in medical school and in college, as well as professional one-on-one standardized test tutoring through Blueprint, where I developed individualized study plans and taught both content and test-taking strategy. My USMLE tutoring focuses on clinical reasoning, high-yield content review, question-bank analysis, and developing efficient strategies students can apply independently on exam day.

Tutoring with Sargis

I have had a few sessions with Sargis and they have been so incredibly helpful. He is so knowledgable and teaches to your needs. He has created a plan for us to do together and action items for me to do on my own. We go through questions and we go through high yield content. This lets us tackle test taking strategies and how to answer more questions correctly and apply that across all disciplines in medicine as well as just solidifying foundations of knowledge. I have tried many tutors and would recommend Sargis to anyone looking for a tutor in med school and/or studying Step 1.

Great Feedback and Test-Taking Strategies

I had a great experience working with Sargis. He was very knowledgeable and did an excellent job explaining the material and providing detailed, constructive feedback on my question-solving approach. He was able to identify specific areas I could improve on, including recognizing high-yield clues, eliminating answer choices, and managing fatigue and test anxiety. I found the session very helpful and came away with several practical strategies that I can apply to my studying and future practice questions. I would definitely recommend Sargis to anyone preparing for USMLE Step 1 who is looking for a knowledgeable tutor who provides thoughtful and personalized feedback.
