Bio

Hi! I am a mathematician tutoring all areas of math. I earned my Bachelor's degree in 2013 with a major in math and a minor in computer science, and I earned my Ph.D. in math in 2018. I have been teaching and tutoring at colleges since 2012, and I have worked with high school students over the summers since 2014. I have taught topics ranging from algebra and trigonometry through advanced undergraduate and graduate mathematics.

I have been teaching and tutoring at colleges since 2012, and I have worked with high school students over the summers since 2014. I have taught topics ranging from algebra and trigonometry through advanced undergraduate and graduate mathematics.

My default teaching mode falls broadly under the heading of Inquiry Based Learning (IBL). Using concrete problems as scaffolding, I work with students to build deeper and more abstract understanding and theoretical foundations. I have a passion for making challenging and advanced mathematical topics approachable and accessible, and have designed a number of courses with this goal.

I look forward to working with students at all levels and backgrounds to strengthen curiosity, proficiency, and appreciation for the math that is all around us.

Discrete Math

I have spent every summer since 2014 teaching discrete math by inquiry based learning, setting up problems so that students can discover mathematics for themselves and understand it deeply. I have taught topics from counting and combinatorics to sets, cardinality, graph theory, probability, and number theory. I have also designed and taught short courses combinatorics and geometry, algorithms and number theory, linear algebra and combinatorics, and more!
