Hi! My name is Marjan, and I am a fourth-year psychology student at UCLA! I am passionate about teaching others, helping them understand course materials in a way that sticks. I specialize in Psychology and Introductory Neuroscience, topics that I have learned in-depth in my university studies.
My experience in tutoring began during my two years in community college, where I tutored my peers in psychology subjects. This experience, done through the tutoring center, focused on one-on-one sessions. I helped students learn and understand material from various psychology courses, including Introductory Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, and Developmental Psychology.
I graduated from my community college with two Associate of Arts degrees in Psychology and in Social and Behavioral Sciences. Once I transferred to UCLA, I continued to peer-mentor my classmates in our courses, helping them understand psychology and introductory neuroscience material. I received A's and honors in all of the courses that I tutored, and I will be graduating from UCLA with a 4.0 GPA. Although I've formally tutored older high school and college-age individuals (ages 16+), I've had immense experience working with children ages 6-15 through nannying, where I supported them with their homework and studying for exams.
During our first lesson, we will have a conversation about your personal learning style. It's important for me to know how to best support you and help you understand the material. During our lessons, I will begin by explaining the lesson plan I've prepared and help you complete homework assignments, understand material, or study for exams. I value finding creative examples to help illustrate varying psychological principles and basic neurobiology. I will also provide resources, such as YouTube videos, to serve as extra support for maximum understanding.
I reply quickly to emails and have strong communication skills to facilitate the process of setting up meetings. I am so excited to begin working with you!
