Hi, I'm Alec, a history major at UC Irvine on a pre-law track. Writing and argument sit at the center of both, and I spend most of my time analyzing primary sources, building theses, and turning messy ideas into clear, well-supported essays. I also write analytical essays on culture and politics outside of class, so I know how hard it is to get from a blank page to a draft you're proud of.

I currently work at a children's after-school education program, where I teach a variety of classes to children with differing abilities and backgrounds. That job taught me to meet students where they are, break big tasks into small steps, and keep sessions encouraging. With high school and college students, I start by asking questions to find where the thinking is getting stuck, then coach them through brainstorming, outlining, and revising in their own voice. I never write assignments or application essays for students. My goal is for each student to leave a session a stronger writer.
I can help with college application essays (Common App and UC personal insight questions), history and social science papers, thesis statements, essay structure, and editing. I went through the UC application process in 2023, so I understand what admissions readers respond to. Sessions are relaxed but focused, and I'm happy to start with a short trial lesson to see what you need.
