Hi, I'm Logan! I am a recent summa cum laude UCI English graduate who loves all concepts of writing. I originally became an English major due to my love for stories and how well crafted stories can be. Hi, I'm Logan! I am a recent summa cum laude UCI English graduate who loves all concepts of writing. I originally became an English major due to my love for stories and how well crafted stories can be. But this love has expanded to all forms of writing, which I was exposed to through my English and Creative Writing classes (I have a minor in Creative Writing as well!). These forms can range from essays to poetry to short form book reviews. What matters most in all of these forms of writing, though, is clarity and structure. As an English tutor, I hope to do what many of my professors failed to do: focus on the way people write rather than what they write about. My hope is to make you confident in the way you utilize words so that you can write on any topic, be that something that piques your interest, or simply the topic of the week in class. The great thing about understanding these structures is that they can be used for communicating any kind of information!
I have previously tutored mostly in the realm of math, as that is the most common subject students struggle with. I have tutored one-on-one, in company settings (such as Mathnasium), and in groups with local middle school students. At this point, I have assisted students of all ages, from elementary to college level. These experiences mostly stemmed from my ability to understand math and a passion for helping others grasp the same concepts! I am now a math and English tutor here on Wyzant.
My main method of teaching is always a combination of rephrasing and practice. I have found that even the most complicated concept can become easy when it is explained to a student in a unique way for them. My goal is always to find that method for each of my students so that they feel more confident and comfortable tackling new issues without the need of a tutor. And that is where the practice comes in: for with practice, comes confidence.
