I attended University High School in Irvine, CA, where I served as the President of the Tutoring Club. The mission of the club was to provide free tutoring for students who were unable to afford private lessons. My years as a high school tutor fostered a love for learning and teaching within me, as I developed meaningful relationships with my tutees.
This love for learning and teaching continued in college, where I excelled academically at UC Davis and worked for the school as a chemistry tutor, an organic chemistry tutor, and a biochemistry tutor through their Academic Assistance and Tutoring Center (AATC). I worked closely one-on-one with tutees, as well as in group settings to help multiple students with difficult course work. Through these varying experiences, I learned to adapt my approach to provide the most effective, personalized tutoring. As an AATC tutor, I was trained on pedagogical tutoring techniques used to develop the long-term success of college students. I have been lucky enough to work with many of the same tutees for multiple years. I have seen many of my tutees find success academically after struggling. I have witnessed some of my students become tutors themselves!
During the summer of my second year at UC Davis, I decided to study for the Dental Admission Test. I studied with a close friend of mine. By teaching my friend topics I found challenging, I was able to develop a deeper understanding and pinpoint any holes in my learning. I earned a 27 AA and 28 TS on the DAT, which is in the >99th percentile. After scoring a 30 on the Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics sections, I feel confident in my ability to tutor these sections.
Beyond all else, I have developed a true love for learning throughout my academic and tutoring journey. I hope that in my interactions with you or your child, that love shines through, as I will always work to instill a love for learning that lasts a lifetime to all of my students.
