My name is Ardavan, and I'm a Biochemistry major at the University of California, Irvine, on the pre-med track. My passion for science education started early — I earned a Silver Medal at the Chemistry Olympiad, which deepened my love for problem-solving and set the foundation for the way I approach teaching today. Since then, I spent two years serving as a Teaching Assistant for both General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry at Irvine Valley College, where I led review sessions, held office hours, and worked one-on-one with students who ranged from first-time chemistry learners to those preparing for challenging exams.
What I've learned through those experiences is that every student struggles for a different reason. Some have gaps in foundational math or reasoning skills that make chemistry feel impossible; others understand the theory but freeze when it's time to apply it on an exam. My approach is to figure out exactly where the disconnect is and meet the student there. I don't just re-explain what a textbook already says. Instead, I break concepts down using analogies, and plenty of practice problems so that understanding actually sticks.
I'm especially experienced with General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Biology, and I have worked with high school students preparing for AP exams as well as college students tackling introductory and upper-division coursework. Whether you need help building a strong foundation, surviving organic chemistry, or gaining confidence before a big exam, I'd love to work with you.
