I have a BA from UC Berkeley (Psychology), an MA from UCLA (Education), and a Math teaching credential in CA. Through my experiences as a math teacher (13 years in middle/high schools, 25+ years as a tutor), I've developed the ability to adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and provide instruction that targets a genuine conceptual understanding of math.
I specialize in test prep for the math sections of the SAT, ACT, and GRE and help students develop strategic thinking skills and confidence in working with various applications of core concepts. I myself received perfect scores on SAT and GRE Math sections and have helped many students do the same. I believe in helping students discover and understand concepts in order to solve problems, not teaching them to just memorize and follow steps.
I also regularly tutor math subjects. I've taught Pre-Algebra, Algebra I & II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus AB/BC, and the Integrated Math series extensively in the past using a variety of curriculum resources. I've been a classroom teacher in middle and high schools, for learning academies, summer school and after school programs, and a private tutor- both in person and online. I've tutored all throughout my life, starting from when I myself was a high school student. I absolutely love helping students understand math and start realizing their own potential while developing a growth mindset for learning.
