My name is Jennifer, and I graduated with a B.M. in Violin Performance and Honors Humanities. I’ve played the violin for about a decade. For the first half of those ten years, I performed in chamber groups, competitions, orchestras, and solo recitals. During this time, I also completed IB English HL coursework, where I developed strong skills in analytical writing, thesis development, and critical reading.

My love for both literature and music led me to pursue a double major. In college, I played in solo and chamber music masterclasses with esteemed musicians. Additionally, I have experience teaching beginning to intermediate violin students. I currently work at a music studio, providing private lessons to students ages 6–15, both in person and online. I create lesson plans tailored to each student's needs, and provide detailed notes after each lesson to guide practice at home. In my Humanities courses, I took part in weekly writing groups and faculty-mentored discussions, producing meaningful, well-written papers. I also co-authored and published a book under faculty mentorship, conducting extensive research, analytical writing, and peer critique to refine clarity, strength, and content.

All of these experiences shaped my teaching philosophies. When teaching music, I emphasize discipline, strong technique, adaptability, and a good ear, rooted in a genuine love for music and life. I strive to nurture both musicianship and character so students create music that reflects their technical proficiency and emotional maturity, depth, and authenticity. For writing students, I aim to cultivate independent, thoughtful, and caring people. By administering thorough instruction, discussion, and mentorship, I instill confidence, self-discipline, and a strong work ethic in a supportive environment where students feel safe to express themselves and learn from mistakes. By teaching in this manner, I help students write freely, with confidence, and guide them towards intellectual maturity, discernment, and understanding.
