Hello! I’m a 4th-year medical student applying into Otolaryngology–Head & Neck Surgery, and I’ve been tutoring for several years across both college science and standardized exams. I started at UC Irvine as a tutor through the Academic Learning Institute, where I taught physics, general chemistry, and biology for bio majors in both small groups (1–4 students) and larger classes (up to 16). Since starting medical school, I’ve transitioned to private tutoring focused on the MCAT. I tutor Chem/Phys, Bio/Biochem, and Psych/Soc, and I scored in the 93rd+ percentile on my exam. I’ve also passed USMLE Step 1 on my first attempt and scored in the 85th+ percentile on Step 2, and I’ve started tutoring students locally on USMLE content as well.
My style is very hands-on, structured, and encouraging. For both the MCAT and USMLE, I mainly use UWorld and NBME-style content because real progress comes from practicing questions the right way. During sessions, we work through questions together while I explain my thought process step-by-step, then I listen to how you’re thinking so we can quickly identify gaps (content, strategy, or timing). If you’re weaker in an area, I’ll give you clear frameworks and “clues” for how to approach those questions so you’re not just memorizing, you’re learning how to reason like the test wants you to. I also help students build a realistic study plan and weekly schedule, and I’m big on accountability, because consistency is what turns effort into score gains.
If you want a tutor who will keep things clear, high-yield, and supportive while also pushing you to improve, I’d love to work with you.
