I earned my undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), where I developed a strong foundation in biology, chemistry, and physics and published several papers in engineering and life sciences. I am now an MD/PhD student at the University of California, Irvine, pursuing advanced training in medicine and biomedical research. Along the way, I achieved a 98th percentile MCAT score, which reflects both my mastery of exam content and my ability to develop efficient, strategic approaches to learning complex material. This combination of academic achievements and research experience gives me the expertise to help students master challenging coursework and prepare for competitive exams.
Most of my tutoring and mentoring has been with college students and peers in the sciences. I have guided classmates through biochemistry, organic chemistry, physiology, and molecular biology, and I have also helped peers prepare for the MCAT. My approach is interactive and adaptive: I assess how each student learns best, then tailor sessions to strengthen fundamentals, address gaps in understanding, and build problem-solving strategies. I often encourage students to explain concepts back to me and to work through applied examples, because this deepens comprehension and helps ensure long-term retention.
Over time, I have seen this method lead to both improved performance and increased confidence. Because I know firsthand how demanding science-heavy majors and pre-medical tracks can be, I place equal emphasis on clarity, structure, and encouragement. I enjoy creating a supportive, collaborative learning environment that allows students to move past obstacles and achieve their goals. My goal as a tutor is not only to improve grades and test scores, but also to help students develop the skills and confidence to succeed well beyond the classroom.
