I am currently a Neuroscience PhD student at the University of Southern California, based in Irvine, CA. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology from the University of California, San Diego, where I completed coursework in biology, chemistry, physics, psychology, and statistics. My graduate research has further deepened my expertise in neuroscience, bioengineering, electrical engineering, and and scientific writing/communication.
I have over five years of informal teaching and mentoring experience in academic and laboratory settings. As part of my PhD program, I regularly mentor undergraduate research assistants, guiding them in laboratory techniques, experimental design, and data analysis. I frequently explain complex topics about biology to both undergraduates and fellow graduate students, tailoring my explanations to each person’s background and learning style. In addition, I have experience reviewing and editing lab reports, scientific papers, and presentations, helping students improve both their technical accuracy and communication skills.
My teaching style focuses on making challenging material approachable. I prioritize breaking concepts down into clear simple steps to help students better understand. I incorporate visual aids such as slides, diagrams, and images to help students better retain and understand complex ideas. I aim to create an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and building confidence in their abilities.
