My experience includes teaching at Fanclub (an after-school program) and both elementary and high schools, providing classroom support for Math, Science, and English in classes of 10-15 students. I have engaged with over 200 children (kindergarten to 5th grade) while working with various Fanclubs. Additionally, I have served as a paraprofessional, offering one-on-one support to students, assisting with their individual educational needs, and facilitating their learning progress. Beyond formal teaching, I have also taught Math to my own children through high school and have a strong foundation in the subject.

Alongside my teaching experience, I have extensive expertise in computer programming, including Python, JavaScript, Java, C#, and database concepts. My academic background includes an engineering degree, an MBA in IT Project Management, and a postgraduate course in AI/ML (Data Science) from the University of Texas. I have also volunteered at Stoller Middle School (Portland, Oregon) for three consecutive years, coaching students for the Science Olympiad. The students including my own daughter I mentored consistently placed in the top three in Oregon and qualified for nationals in the subjects I taught. With over 35 years of experience in engineering, IT development and testing, project management, substitute teaching, and real estate, I have mentored more than 50 junior engineers in software automation, tools, testing, and related fields. My diverse experience and passion for teaching make me a strong candidate for the Math and Software Programming tutor role.

ACT Math

ACT Math

My approach: I provide structured, student-centered tutoring that aligns with the ACT Math curriculum. Start by assessing the student’s strengths and weaknesses through an initial diagnostic session or by reviewing their past test results. Focus on core ACT Math topics, such as algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and data analysis, while also reinforcing test-taking strategies like time management, question prioritization, and elimination techniques. Utilize Wyzant’s interactive tools, such as the virtual whiteboard and screen sharing, to explain concepts visually and solve problems step by step. Additionally, I like to tailor each lesson to the student’s learning style and pace, providing targeted practice problems and reviewing official ACT practice tests to track progress. I encourge students to think critically by guiding them through problem-solving rather than just giving answers. Offer homework and follow-up support to reinforce learning between sessions. Maintaining clear communication with students and, if applicable, their parents will help build trust and ensure consistent improvement.By fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment, I can help students build confidence and achieve higher ACT Math scores.
