Hey there! My name is Kiernan, and I'm a tutor and educator based in Irvine, CA, serving Irvine and surrounding Orange County communities. I hold a Bachelor's degree from Northwestern University, a Master of Education from Alliant International University, and am a credentialed middle school math teacher.

Math is my primary focus. My strengths cover elementary math through pre-algebra, algebra, and word problems. I scored a 35 on the ACT Math section, have passed both Math CSET Subtests I & II, and am credentialed to teach middle school math. I have a passion for making math click for students who find it frustrating, and I build lesson plans tailored to each student's specific needs and learning style.
I also offer full ACT prep across all sections, having scored a 34 overall. For students in Irvine and Orange County preparing for college admissions, I know what it takes to score at the highest level.

What sets me apart from other tutors is chess. I have been playing for 23 years, hold a USCF rating of 1700, and have competed in over 100 national tournaments. For the past 9 years I have taught chess to students from kindergarten through 8th grade. Whether your child is just learning how the pieces move or working toward competitive tournament play, I bring a level of experience that is rare to find in a tutor.
