I have a PhD in developmental psychology and am currently working in Santa Ana Unified School District full time. I've been a college professor and individual tutor for years and immensely enjoy working one-on-one with students. I'm looking to help students--particularly in statistics, psychology, and scientific writing--to excel in high school, college, or grad school.

I have completed graduate-level coursework in ANOVA, regression, categorical/non-parametric data, multilevel and structural equation modeling, and Bayesian estimation. My dissertation involved using a Bayesian multilevel structural equation modeling design, and I have guest lectured in college statistics courses.

I love psychology, and my developmental focus was on adolescence and young adulthood. I have also taught lifespan development and child and adolescent psychology courses, as well as worked as graduate level teaching assistant in multiple classes. I take a holistic approach to student learning--taking cognitive, socioemotional, and school context factors into consideration--because of my research background.

I am happy and eager to help students learn and excel, particularly in areas of scientific writing and statistics. Feel free to reach out if you want a highly qualified tutor to help!

Psychology

I have a PhD in positive developmental psychology from Claremont Graduate University. I have always loved psychology since taking my first class in it in high school. I am competent and comfortable teaching all areas of psychology and I have even worked as an adjunct professor in psychology. My understanding of cognitive processes like information processing, memory, and other aspects of learning helps make me a well-qualified, patient tutor ready to help students from all backgrounds.
SPSS

SPSS

I have extensive experience with a variety of statistics, mostly social science focused. I have taken graduate level coursework in ANOVA, regression, categorical/non-parametric data, multilevel modeling, structural equation modeling/path analysis, and some Bayesian analyses. For my dissertation, I used multilevel Bayesian path analyses for my main analyses. I also work as an educational research analyst in a large K-12 school district, so I use statistics in my day job nearly every day also. I primarily use R for analyses, though I am also very competent using SPSS and have basic MPlus skills.

Writing

Writing

I have always enjoyed the writing process, and I consider myself skilled at it. Much of academic writing follows subtle formulas that are not instantly obvious; however, it is readily apparent when they are lacking. Good writing is easy to understand and flows smoothly, whereas bad writing is cumbersome and taxing to try and make sense of. I have extensive scientific and professional writing experience, having completed a 126 page dissertation, being a published scientific author, and working in an integral support role (as a research analyst) in a large organization with over 2,500 employees. I'm confident I can successfully guide others through nearly any writing process (e.g., academic-based, professional-based) and improve their writing skills.

Excellent experience!

This was my first time using Wyzant, and I feel so lucky to have found Caleb. I am at the tail end of my dissertation and struggling with my analyses. First meeting, and Caleb has already calmed my nerves. His expertise and patience is simply a God-send!

Helpful!

Caleb was patient and clear with the statistics topics he covered with my daughter. He was quick to respond with questions prior to the appointment. My daughter shared that he helped her to understand tricky topics and if he was unsure of a specific topic he would research it so he could explain it to her in a way she understood it. He was definitely a big help for upcoming final that she had.

experienced statistics tutor

I had an incredible experience working with Caleb! He patiently walked me through the complexities of MANOVA, breaking down each step in a way that made it easy to understand. No matter how many questions I had, Caleb answered them all thoroughly and with enthusiasm. His support and clarity gave me the confidence to tackle my analysis. I highly recommend Caleb for anyone looking to deepen their understanding of statistical methods!

Very patient and helpful.

The basics of R, the various screens, we went over syntax, pulling in new files, downloading R packages, running frequencies, and much more. Very helpful thank you!

CALEB IS TRULY AN ANGEL SEND FROM STATISTICS SIX STARS HEAVEN!

Caleb strikes a perfect balance between patience and momentum. He sent several emails to communicate the schedule and time, then walked through two hours of Research Methods Statistics with me and stayed perfectly present, pleasant, patient, and focused. He is humble, but knows his stats! I honestly cannot recommend him highly enough. If I go on to grad school, he will be on my calendar when my number is up, and I have to take more stats...

Helpful tutor for R review

Caleb helped me navigate R for my Data Analysis class in Psychology @ UCBerkeley. I gained a better understanding of some of the functions and their formatting that I had trouble with. Caleb is patient and informative. There were a couple of the concepts that he couldn't explain, but, I would still hire him again.

Friendly, knowledgeable, and patient tutor

Caleb was awesome. I like how he took time during the lesson to stop and make sure I was understanding the material. He gave me some fantastic tips to apply moving forward and improve my understanding of SPSS (which I’m still quite intimidated by)! I recommend him. He’s a quality tutor for a reasonable price given his expertise and years of experience.
