My love for teaching comes from a life-long love of learning. As a Ph. D. holder I know that hard work and dedication to learning do pay off. I have been teaching at a University in Los Angeles County for the past fifteen years, and before that I tutored successfully with a leading SAT-preparation company. As such, I continue to enjoy the pleasure of assisting hundreds of students to realize their own potential, even as they see their grades and test scores steadily improve.
I specialize in teaching English for success in school and on the SAT, ACT or GRE. I am the proud author of a book, entitled: Local Government in western Nigeria: Exemplary Institutional Change in Abeokuta, 1830-1952. Whether we are working on high school English or GRE vocabulary, a goal for each of my sessions is to challenge my students, while not overwhelming them. I assign stretch exercises after every lesson, and provide periodic assessment and progress reports.
I hold myself to the same superior standards that I expect of my students. Consequently, I often request feedback from my students, and never bill for a tutoring lesson that students or their parents are not completely satisfied with.
I am always flexible with time, and prefer to work on the week-ends, when we can have uninterrupted hours within which to concentrate on our tutoring lessons. I am willing to travel to a lesson site of my students' choosing, or I can secure a convenient location for studying, if that is preferred.
I look forward to hearing from you soon, and helping you achieve success in your studies. All the very best!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My educational background is such that I have an earned doctorate, which makes me qualified to teach English to non-speakers of English. I currently teach at the university level, and consequently, have to be proficient in written and oral communication. Lastly, I can empathize with my prospective students because I had to learn English as a second language.
