I have a degree in Economics from Cal State University Dominguez Hills. I obtained my CBEST (California Basic Educational Skills Test) which is the foundation for teaching grades K-12. While working as a substitute teacher I obtained my CSET (California Subject Examination for Teachers) which gives one the specialized skills within his/her university major. Since my major is economics I am under the social studies umbrella. The certification in social studies includes world history, United States History, and California history.
Previously I taught for Inglewood Unified School District, Kelly Educational Staffing, and Premier Educational Staffing. I also got my tutoring experience at Sylvan Learning Center and another company called, Learning with Laptops. Coming from a formal background my method(s) primarily revolve around national standards. Basically, what you would find in the classroom. But, tailored for what the student is weak in or needs help in to bring their grades up in.
When you get your specialized credential the CSET you stipulate what grades you prefer and the examinations are specifically for that. I am familiar with 6-12th grade for social studies. If there is a college student that needs help I could also assist with that. Usually that would be government and the U.S Constitution. I have been a teacher for over 17 years and as you would expect that time was with classrooms of 35 students.
