Credentialed Elementary Teacher | K–6 Math, Reading & Homework He

Denise Q.

Hi! My name is Denise, and I’m a credentialed elementary teacher with experience working with students in a variety of educational settings. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Elementary Education from San Diego State University and my Master’s degree in Inspired Teaching and Learning from National University, along with my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. I have several years of experience as a tutor and substitute teacher, as well as experience student teaching in a first-grade classroom. These experiences have allowed me to work with students of different ages, learning styles, and academic needs.

I specialize in elementary reading, writing, and math, as well as homework support and building strong foundational skills. My teaching approach is patient, encouraging, and individualized. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable, supported, and confident enough to ask questions and make mistakes. I like to break challenging concepts into smaller steps, use examples and hands-on strategies when appropriate, and adjust my instruction based on each student's needs and learning style. My goal is not only to help students complete their work, but to help them truly understand the material and become more confident and independent learners.

I am happy to discuss a student's specific needs and goals before beginning tutoring so we can make sure I am the right fit for them. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like to schedule a lesson. I would love the opportunity to work with your student and help them reach their academic goals!
