Hi I'm Rohit! I studied physics and chemistry at harvard, and now am occupied as a freelance writer and tutor. I love learning and passing on knowledge.

I have been tutoring for over a decade, at all levels ranging from pre K to post 12. I teach all levels of math, physics, SAT/ACT, and chess, as well as college admissions mentoring and creative writing.

As a sophomore I was a teaching assistant for Harvard's laboratory electronics class. It was a very hands on class, and led me to a visual and intuitive style of teaching. My students rated me 4.6/5. The following summer, I traveled to Taktse International School in India to teach physics and mathematics. But the really fun part was using the Lego Mindstorm kits to form a robotics club, and teaching a few students to program in C.

I also formed my own college admissions and career mentoring service in high school. I believe learning is a highly personal and even spiritual endeavor, and approaching it with the right attitude is essential to really learning. As a professor of mine often said, "You've got to feel it in your bones!"

As a physics and chemistry major at Harvard, I've come to rely on strong visual and intuitive models. Once you can see the essence of the idea in your head, problem solving is a piece of cake. No matter what, we will always go step-by-step.

I love learning and meeting fellow learners. Shoot me a message and let's embark on an adventure!

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I have taught math for 14 years at all levels, from K-12 to the university level. During my time at Harvard, I not only took advanced mathematics courses but applied them to my major in physics and Chemistry. I approach teaching with a visual approach paired with the analytical side, allowing you to boost understanding by seeing the underlying connections.

Calculus

Calculus

I bring over two decades of experience teaching calculus in one-on-one, small-group, and classroom settings, with extensive use of differentiated instruction. I’ve worked with learners at every level—from high school through graduate study—which allows me to quickly identify students’ learning modalities, pacing needs, and conceptual sticking points at each stage of their mathematical development. My teaching style blends strong visual intuition with rigorous analytical reasoning. I help students uncover the underlying structures that make calculus feel coherent rather than fragmented. Concepts are motivated visually and physically first, then developed analytically and reinforced through carefully chosen problems that clarify and cement understanding. Once students can clearly see the idea, problem-solving becomes far more natural. I frequently connect calculus to concurrent scientific ideas—and just as readily illuminate science through mathematical insight. Drawing on applications from physics, engineering, and real research contexts keeps engagement high and curiosity alive, while building the physical intuition that supports long-term mastery. Having personally navigated multiple curricular paths, I understand the conceptual roadblocks students commonly encounter. While enrolled in AP Calculus AB, I self-studied for AP Calculus BC, and concurrently prepared for calculus-based AP Physics C (Mechanics and Electricity & Magnetism). This gives me insight not only into learning challenges, but also into effective study strategies and test preparation. These calculus–physics connections can be incorporated from the very start of the AP Calculus year. Beyond AP Calculus AB and BC (Calculus I and II), I am well-versed in multivariable calculus (Calculus III). My background includes upper-level coursework in electromagnetism and introductory fluid dynamics, providing firsthand experience with how advanced calculus is applied in real scientific settings. I am a Harvard graduate (Class of 2014) with a joint concen

College Counseling

College Counseling

College is both the beginning and continuation of a lifelong journey. Crafting an application that tells your story in a compelling fashion is my forte, but that's really the easy part. It's about finding the perfect fit: curating an environment you can thrive in for at least a couple years and manifesting a multitude of opportunities for the rest of your life. Bringing first hand experience from community college to the ivy league and liberal arts schools, trade schools, medical, engineering and business and fine arts programs, we will find something that resonates with YOU. I also offer strong support for financial aid and scholarships, standardized testing and deep involvement in extracurriculars such as sports including recruiting, leadership and community activism, and even bleeding edge research at the graduate level.

I bring two decades of experience teaching physics in one-on-one, small-group, and classroom settings, with extensive use of differentiated instruction. I’ve taught learners at every level—from pre-K through graduate school—which allows me to quickly discern the learning modalities, pacing, and intellectual rhythms students encounter along their academic journey. My teaching style combines a strong visual intuition with rigorous analytical reasoning. I help students uncover the underlying connections that make physics feel coherent rather than fragmented. I often motivate physics concepts through concurrent mathematical ideas—and just as readily illuminate mathematics through physical insight. We build core concepts first, then reinforce them through challenging problem-solving designed to clarify and cement understanding. Once you can clearly “see” the idea, problem solving becomes far more natural. For younger learners in particular, I incorporate physical intuition and real-world research applications to keep engagement high and curiosity alive. Having personally navigated multiple curricular paths, I understand common conceptual roadblocks. While enrolled in algebra-based AP Physics B, I self-studied for calculus-based AP Physics C (Mechanics and Electricity & Magnetism). This experience gives me insight into the challenges faced by students new to these ideas, as well as effective test-taking and study strategies. A Harvard College physics and chemistry major (class of 2014), my coursework included mechanics, electromagnetism, wave mechanics, quantum mechanics, fluid dynamics, and statistical mechanics/thermodynamics. I also completed graduate-level laboratory electronics and Atomic, Molecular, and Optical (AMO) physics, with research focused on quantum computing using nitrogen-vacancy centers.

Incredibly bright and patient.

My 15yr old son ENJOYS working with Rohit on his Algebra I skills. Rohit is incredibly personable and loves sharing his enthusiasm for learning. He is a perfect academic mentor for my son and we feel very fortunate to have found him.

Smart, Organized and thorough

Rohit is an excellent tutor. I have a strong sense that he is invested in my learning. We worked together in a systematic way that was thorough. He gave me some practice problems to work on between meetings, so when I came into the next meeting I had questions ready for him. Rohit is very positive and encouraging. Our work together has helped boost my confidence. By testing my knowledge through Rohit’s methods I am more assured in my coursework. Rohit is very knowledgeable and he knows how to teach. I found his rate to be more reasonable than other tutors at his level of expertise. I recommend him as a tutor with absolute confidence.

great

He was very helpful and answered all questions. He worked through problems slowly and he made sure everything was understood.

Good tutor

Rohm does a very nice job helping my son. He allows him to work on the problems and doesn't give him the answer - which forces him to work through it

Excellent tutor!

Rohit did a fantastic job setting my son at ease with his questions about AP Physics. My son commented that Rohit was both personable & knowledgeable; he even gave my son recommendations for additional reference material that would enhance his ability to grasp the concepts. Going forward, my son feels more confident he can tackle both physics and calculus. I would recommend Rohit to anyone looking for help in either Physics or Calculus.

Great tutor

After the first tutoring session, my daughter came home to do her math homework. The homework was based on the math Rohit went over with her. She was so happy because she was amazed that she understood her H. W. and was able to complete it without a problem. She had a second tutoring session and then a quiz the next day. She got a 104 on her quiz! (She got extra credit for a bonus question). My daughter has always been good at math but this year she was lost. Rohit explained it to her in a way that she got it. She is also happy with the short cuts he is teaching her.
