I’m an educator, environmental science teacher, and musician who enjoys helping people actually understand what they’re learning. I have an M.A. in Education from Claremont Graduate University, a B.A. in Environmental Sustainability & Social Justice from San Francisco State University, and a California Preliminary Single Subject Teaching Credential in Science. I taught Environmental Science and AP Environmental Science at the high school level and have also worked with middle-school students and individual learners.
For science tutoring, I can help with Environmental Science, Biology, Earth Science, ecology, and related subjects. I like breaking complicated ideas into something that makes sense rather than relying on memorization. My teaching connects science to the real world, and I’m comfortable adapting lessons to a student’s interests, background, and current level.
I also teach guitar. I’m a guitarist, songwriter, and performing musician with experience in jazz, improvisation, rock, blues, soul, funk, psychedelic and fusion music, as well as West African music and percussion. I work with beginners and developing players and can help with chords, rhythm, songs, improvisation, music theory, songwriting, and finding your own voice on the instrument. Whether we’re studying science or music, my goal is the same: make learning engaging, practical, and something you genuinely want to keep doing.
