My focus is exam writing. Most students learn the law before they learn how to write the answer that earns the A, and that's where I spend the most time. I work from your professor's syllabus and past exams, build an attack outline for your specific course, and grade your practice answers against what your professor actually rewards.

My background: University of Chicago Law School (top 10%, Law Review), California Bar on the first attempt, a federal clerkship, and litigation practice. I currently work in federal court, so the doctrine I teach is doctrine I'm actively using. For LSAT students: I scored a 175 and taught for a major test prep company before law school.

Whether you're prepping for your first Civil Procedure exam, rebuilding for the bar, or trying to crack the LSAT, I'd be glad to help.

Approved Subjects

Bar Exam

Bar Exam

I passed the California Bar Exam on my first attempt and have since tutored both first-time and repeat takers, including students who had failed more than once before we started working together. Most people who fail the bar didn't study too little. They're writing essays that don't score: vague rule statements, missed issues, analysis that restates the facts instead of applying them. That's where I spend the time. I grade your practice essays and performance tests against what the graders actually reward, find the pattern in your errors, and build a plan that fixes the pattern instead of just adding hours. Sessions cover essay structure, performance test method, and MBE strategy, all under timed conditions. If you've failed before, bring your score report — that's where we'll start.
Criminal Justice

Criminal Justice

I graduated with honors from the University of Chicago Law School, where I was a member of the Law Review. I have extensive experience tutoring criminal justice at both the college and law school levels. My background as a federal law clerk has given me a deep understanding of criminal procedure and constitutional principles. I help students build strong analytical skills and excel in their coursework.
Debate

Debate

I directed forensics programs at multiple high schools and coached students to national championships in every major format. Before that, I was a Lincoln-Douglas and policy debater in high school and the #1-ranked NPDA parliamentary debater in the country in college. I now practice law in federal court, where building an argument, anticipating the response, and winning the rebuttal is the job. I coach case construction, rebuttal and extension strategy, cross-examination, flowing, and delivery, in whatever format you compete in. Sessions are built around your own cases and rounds — bring a flow or a round recording and we'll work from it.
Government & Politics

Government & Politics

I taught AP Government, and my students earned the highest AP scores in the school's history. I'm also a University of Chicago Law School graduate who now works in federal court, so the institutions, civil liberties cases, and separation-of-powers questions on the exam are things I deal with professionally, not just chapters in a textbook. Sessions cover the full curriculum, including the required Supreme Court cases and foundational documents, but the focus is the exam: the multiple choice and, especially, the free-response questions, where the SCOTUS comparison and argument essay are where most students lose points. We practice writing responses that hit the rubric.
Law

Law

Most of my students finish at or near the top of their class. I tutor every 1L doctrinal subject — civil procedure, contracts, torts, property, criminal law, and constitutional law — as well as evidence and legal writing. My focus is exam writing. Most students know the law before they know how to write the answer that earns the A, and closing that gap is where I spend the most time. In practice: I read your syllabus and your professor's past exams, build an attack outline organized the way the exam will actually test the material, and grade your practice answers against what that professor rewards. We cover black-letter rules and IRAC structure along the way, but the goal is a written answer that scores, not an outline that looks complete. I'm a UChicago Law (Law Review) graduate who clerked in federal court and practiced at litigation boutiques. I currently work in federal court, so the doctrine I teach is doctrine I'm actively using.
Legal Writing

Legal Writing

Most of my students earn A's on their LRW assignments, and several have received the highest grade in their section. Legal writing is its own discipline, graded differently from doctrinal exams. I help students master what LRW professors actually reward: tight CREAC structure, accurate rule synthesis, precise application to the facts, and persuasive framing that doesn't overreach. Sessions work on whatever you're assigned — open and closed memos, appellate briefs, motion practice — calibrated to your professor's rubric. Send me a draft and I'll show you where it's losing points and why. I'm a UChicago Law (Law Review) graduate. I wrote motions and briefs at litigation firms, and I now work in federal court, where I spend my days reading them and deciding which ones persuade. I know what the reader on the other side of your brief wants, because I'm that reader.
LSAT

LSAT

I scored a 175 on the LSAT. Before law school I taught the LSAT for two major test prep companies and as a private tutor, and I've kept tutoring it one-on-one ever since. Before that I was a high school teacher — so I've been teaching for a long time, not a high scorer who picked up tutoring on the side. The LSAT is now two Logical Reasoning sections and one Reading Comprehension section, which means every point comes from the same skill: seeing the structure of an argument or passage faster and more reliably than you do today. We start with a diagnostic, isolate the question types and error patterns that are actually costing you points, and drill those specifically, with timed sections to make sure the gains hold under pressure. I usually teach from the PowerScore Bibles, but I'll work within whatever course or materials you're already using.
