About Sean

Bio

Most of my students finish at or near the top of their class. I tutor every 1L doctrinal subject — civil procedure, contracts, torts, property, criminal law, and constitutional law — along with evidence, legal writing, the LSAT, and bar exam prep. My focus is exam writing: most students learn the law before they learn how to write the answer that earns the A, and that's where I spend the most time.

My background: University of Chicago Law School (top 10%, Law Review, honors), California Bar, federal clerkship, and law firm practice. I currently work in federal court, so the doctrine I teach is doctrine I'm actively using.

Whether you're prepping for your first Civil Procedure exam, rebuilding for the bar, or trying to crack the LSAT, I'd be glad to help.

Approved Subjects

Bar Exam

Bar Exam

I passed the notoriously challenging California Bar Exam on my first attempt and have experience tutoring students to achieve the same success. Over the years, I’ve worked with a wide range of law graduates, helping them build strong essay, performance test, and MBE strategies. My approach focuses on clear, structured rule statements, effective issue spotting, and disciplined practice under timed conditions.
Criminal Justice

Criminal Justice

I graduated with honors from the University of Chicago Law School, where I was a member of the Law Review. I have extensive experience tutoring criminal justice at both the college and law school levels. My background as a federal law clerk has given me a deep understanding of criminal procedure and constitutional principles. I help students build strong analytical skills and excel in their coursework.
Debate

Debate

I directed forensics programs at multiple high schools, coaching students to national championships across all debate formats. I was a successful Lincoln-Douglas and policy debater in high school, and ranked #1 nationally in NPDA parliamentary debate in college. I have extensive experience teaching debate, helping students develop strong research, argumentation, and public speaking skills. I guide students in crafting persuasive cases, mastering cross-examination, and excelling in tournaments. My coaching emphasizes strategy, confidence, and critical thinking to achieve success in debate competitions.
Government & Politics

Government & Politics

I graduated with honors from the University of Chicago Law School and bring a strong background in government and politics. As a former AP Government teacher, my students achieved the highest AP scores in school history. I have extensive experience helping students master core concepts like federalism, civil liberties, and political institutions. My approach emphasizes clear explanations, critical thinking, and effective exam strategies.
Law

Law

Most of my students finish at or near the top of their class. I tutor every 1L doctrinal subject — civil procedure, contracts, torts, property, criminal law, constitutional law, evidence, and legal writing. My focus is exam writing. Most students know the law before they know how to write the answer that earns the A, and bridging that gap is where I spend the most time. Sessions work through black-letter rules, efficient outlining, and IRAC responses calibrated to your professor's exam style. I'm familiar with how a wide range of professors structure their fact patterns and what they reward. I'm a UChicago Law (Law Review) grad, federal law clerk, and federal court litigator.
Legal Writing

Legal Writing

Most of my students earn A's on their LRW assignments, and several this semester received the highest grade in their section. Legal writing is its own discipline. I help students master what LRW professors actually grade: tight CREAC structure, accurate rule synthesis, precise application, and persuasive framing. Sessions work on whatever you're assigned: open and closed memos, appellate briefs, and motion practice, all calibrated to your professor's specific rubric. I'm a UChicago Law (Law Review) grad and federal law clerk. Motion and brief writing comprises most of what I do on a day to day basis.
LSAT

LSAT

I scored a 171 and 175 on the LSAT and have extensive experience helping students reach their target scores. Before law school, I worked as a high school teacher and as an instructor for two major LSAT test prep companies, where I developed a strong track record of improving student performance. I’ve also tutored the LSAT one-on-one for many years, adapting my approach to each student’s learning style and goals. While I often teach using the Powerscore Bibles, I’m highly flexible and can tailor my instruction to align with any preferred materials or strategies.
