I have a degree in Chemistry, and have been a professor of Chemistry for 6 years. I tutor Algebra, Basic Math, Basic Chemistry, Introductory Chemistry and Fundamental Chemistry.

My main goal is to teach you according to your ability, personal style, and skill level that you've obtained so far. My main goal is to teach you according to your ability, personal style, and skill level that you've obtained so far. Whether you're stuck on your homework, you didn't understand the lecture or lab, don't understand where the teacher is coming from, want to hear the lecture material all over again from me, or anything else, I'm here for you!

Early on in college, I became smitten with science. My goal then became to aim as high as I could in science, so that one day, I would be on the cutting-edge of Chemistry. In my career, I've been a "mad chemist", doing Chemistry demonstrations for students of all ages. Also in my career, I've taught high school and college students (Fundamental, General, Organic, Biochemistry); I was a Research Associate III (at an environmental biofuels company); and finally, I worked as a Chemist (at a gas company).

Since I knew I wanted to teach while I was in graduate school, I decided to do a project where I studied the major types of teaching in the classroom. For this project, I compared traditional teaching techniques with "building-up" techniques (the official term is "constructivism" where students first build-up ("construct") basic concepts, then later, combine the basics into intermediate and advanced concepts). After observing different techniques and correlating them with student test scores, it was clear that traditional techniques in the classroom often lack the "ground-up / basics" approach, and are simply too complicated for many students. But during my tutoring sessions with students, we can get as basic as necessary (or even as deep as necessary) to get to the bottom of the problem at hand. Each students' understanding and learning style is a little different, but that's to be expected. After all, we're dealing with the wide spectrum of nature here, aren't we?!

Informative and NOT boring

Mr. Andy is a great tutor. He was very patient and understanding to my daughter's needs. We have had other tutors that were just not a good match for my daughter. We believe you should click with your tutor, and my daughter was happy that Mr. Andy was not a boring tutor. He kept her interested. She struggles in Chemistry, she had one session with Mr. Andy and to our surprise my daughter got 100% on her test. She is very proud of herself and her confidence right now is through the roof. We highly recommend Mr. Andy if you are looking for a tutor. She is actually looking forward to her next tutoring session. Thank you, Mr. Andy.
