Dear Learner,
I am a 20 year old college student, and I attend Victor Valley College aspiring to get a Bachelors in Math. I have tutored people in math pretty much since I was in high school. I am working on getting a degree, changing my major to math now so I can become a teacher in the Peace Corps. Teaching is something I want to do and have been told I am very good at. I am nice, friendly, enthusiastic, descriptive, personable, and compassionate. I tutored people in math at my high school mostly in algebra and trigonometry. I am currently tutoring a young man joining the Navy and needs help on the math part of the ASVAB.In high school, I tutored sisters in algebra and they have gotten good at math on their own. They are now in Algebra 2 and are seniors, they contained A's and B's in math since I started tutoring them till now.I also volunteered in after school program at my high school to help the kids who were struggling, mostly algebra.Till this day, I have continued my math aspiration and have gone all the way to calculus and statistics. I have maintained good understanding in math and good grades in that area my whole life, it is just something I have been fortunate to be good at. I have tutored mostly high school students and one of the Ramos sisters was an eighth grader at the time. I am only charging $20 an hour because I don't have a degree yet. If we develop a consistent and good relationship I would be happy to lower the pay rate for you. But, I can help your child and I can become a great tutor for them.
I like to get to know my "student" before I tutor them; if they are shy I usually am good at making people comfortable by breaking the ice with some jokes. Once I get to know them, I ask them what they are struggling with, a lot of the time they just show me what they are working on in school, or what chapter they are on. I go over the chapter and ask if they understand each section, if not, then we do some problems together. By the end, I see if they understood what we did by asking them to do
