With over nine years in public education, I bring experience, adaptability, and a passion for helping students succeed. As a U.S. Navy veteran, I have worked with diverse backgrounds, fostering discipline and adaptability in my teaching. I hold two associate degrees in Science and Technology from Victor Valley College, a bachelor’s in Liberal Arts (English) from Azusa Pacific University (2016), and a master’s in Technology in Education (2018). I am also QTEL-certified, SADIAE-certified, and Google Educator Level 1 & 2 certified, equipping me with strong instructional and technological expertise.

I currently teach 10th grade honors English and have previously taught 7th-12th grade English, working with ELL students, lower-level readers, and students of varying abilities. I modify lessons based on individual needs, ensuring accessibility and engagement. My approach centers on real-life connections—helping students see literature’s relevance to their own lives, making concepts more meaningful. I also have a strong background in French, having studied it for six years, and can assist students in language acquisition.

Whether supporting essay writing, literary analysis, SAT/ACT prep, or language skills, I focus on building confidence and fostering critical thinking. There is nothing more rewarding than witnessing a student’s moment of clarity—the instant when a challenging concept clicks. My goal is to equip students with the skills and mindset for lifelong success.

Bible Studies

Bible Studies

I have extensive experience in Biblical studies, both academically and in practice. I served as the Director of Children’s Ministry (2002-2006), where I planned and led Bible lessons, connecting scripture to real-life applications. Additionally, I have led large group Bible studies and lessons for adults, some ranging up to 1,500 attendees, while teaching at children’s camps. My grandfather and uncle are pastors, and I have assisted them in creating and leading Bible study sessions throughout my life. Furthermore, I hold both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from Azusa Pacific University, a Christian university where all coursework required Biblical integration, chapel participation, and theological study as part of my education. This background, combined with my experience in public education and ministry leadership, allows me to teach Bible studies in a way that is both academically sound and spiritually enriching.
English

English

I’m a certified high school English teacher with several years of experience teaching both standard and honors-level students. I specialize in reading comprehension, writing (including essays and literary analysis), grammar, and helping students grow in confidence. I’ve worked with a wide range of learners, including those who need extra support or are learning English as a second language. I’d love to help you reach your goals!
Literature

Literature

I am an experienced English educator with a strong background in teaching 7th-12th grade English, including honors-level coursework and supporting ELL students. My passion for literature and commitment to student growth drive me to create engaging, scaffolded lessons that help students break down complex texts, develop critical thinking skills, and refine their analytical writing. Having worked with ELL learners transitioning into advanced English courses, I understand the challenges of language acquisition and academic rigor. I provide targeted support in vocabulary development, reading comprehension, structured writing, and grammar, ensuring students build the skills and confidence needed to succeed in honors-level coursework. My approach is student-centered, fostering a learning environment where students feel supported, challenged, and motivated. Through interactive discussions, close reading strategies, and individualized feedback, I help students not only understand literature but also connect with it on a deeper level. My goal is to prepare them for long-term academic success by strengthening their reading, writing, and analytical abilities in a way that feels both accessible and rewarding.
Public Speaking

Public Speaking

As a U.S. Navy veteran, I developed strong public speaking and leadership skills through training exercises, briefings, and team coordination in high-pressure environments. Additionally, my teaching career of nine years has equipped me with the ability to deliver lessons, coach students in speechwriting, and prepare them for presentations. Beyond my military and teaching background, I have also spoken before large audiences of up to 1,500 attendees while leading Bible studies and teaching at children’s camps. My grandfather and uncle, both pastors, entrusted me with leading church discussions and adult study groups, further refining my ability to communicate effectively to diverse audiences. Additionally, my QTEL certification emphasizes clear, structured communication for diverse learners, and my degrees from Azusa Pacific University—a faith-based institution—required extensive public speaking, theological discussions, and presentations as part of my coursework. These experiences make me well-equipped to teach public speaking, whether for academic, professional, or ministry-related purposes.
