Hello! I’m Jess, an enthusiastic and dedicated tutor with a passion for education and technology. With over 9 years of coding and tutoring experience, I’ve had the opportunity to build really cool software that millions of people use and I am excited to help others in their journey to learn programming so they can contribute to the software world or just get their feet wet in the world of technology. My mission? To inspire curiosity, foster critical thinking, and ignite a love for technology.
My education and expertise includes: B.S. in Computer Science: My undergraduate experience at the University of Wisconsin - Madison taught me all the foundations for excellent computer programming skills that are necessary to unlock a world of possibilities. I achieved a 3.34 GPA and graduated within 3 years with 3 software engineering internships. M.S. in Computer Science specialized in AI: My master’s degree from Georgia Tech equips me with industry expertise in the future of AI. I achieved a 3.9 GPA. Software Engineer at Vanguard: I worked on building the #1 robo advisor that millions of people use to empower financial success.
I have classroom teaching (Introduction to Computer Programming) and one-on-one experience as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Wisconsin for college aged students. I explained concepts to students to supplement lecture material and work through programming topics when people needed help. I tutored high school AP computer science students when they were preparing for their exams.
My teaching philosophy includes an individualized approach: I tailor my lessons to each student’s learning style, ensuring comprehension and growth. I promote empowerment: I encourage my students to ask questions, explore, and think critically. Lastly, I seek to build confidence: Struggling with a concept? Let’s break it down together. Confidence is key to success.
