My name is Kim and I have been tutoring for approximately 7 years now. I began tutoring by volunteering as a tutor at the Hemet Adult Literacy Program working with adults with many different reading issues, such as compression, retention, and reading skills. Many of my adult learners struggled with basic reading and so I was able to help them reach their goals of improving their reading skills so they may be able to function in society. I also taught math twice a week at the program in a classroom setting assisting adult learners in many differing levels of math.
I continued to tutor by becoming a tutor for two organizations that work with school districts to assist in improving students reading comprehension, retention, skills, and mathematics. I have been very successful and have been able to increase students reading & math scores by as much as 3 levels, and enjoy a very good relationship with many of the parents who request me every year. I enjoy tutoring because I love to learn and I want my students to love it as much as I and try to encourage them by telling them that every challenge they encounter is a challenge they can meet and that they can be anything they dream of as long as they work hard and never give up.
I hope that both parents and students will contact me and at least give me the opportunity to see how well I interact with the students and that they have a tutor who understands their struggles and want to be able to be one of those people who wants them to learn that challenges are not there to discourage but to build character, tenacity, and self esteem.
