I teach students to comprehend literature, writing, grammar, concepts of writing, Phonics, Phonemic awareness, spelling, Mathematics at the elementary level. I am with them the entire way to success. I am a former Spelling Bee Champion, a Special Education Phonics, Writing, reading, math and science Teacher. Math and Science were some of my best subjects but so are decoding, phonics, phonemic awareness, writing and reading comprehension.

I have memory skills and strategies available for all students. I am an experienced phonics instruction interventionalist. I use research-based reading interventions.

I also study for the students before I get there and I continue to work for them between sessions. In other words, I will come prepared and ready to work, study and encourage your students to achieve higher levels of comprehension in the subject they are working on.

I know this sounds like a lot of work to you, but please let me assure you that I do most of the work. I am very patient with students who have ADD/ADDHD. I have had a Special Education Teaching License and studied for a Master's Degree in Special education. I worked with mild to moderate needs students at the elementary and middle school level, although I have had experience at the high school level as well. I have taught for 7 years as a Guest Teacher, with many of those days in the general education or special education. I have also worked for 4 years as a Special Education Teacher under contract, teaching middle school and elementary students as well as preschool students. Teaching is my one star that I seem to be very good with.

I have taught elementary General Education as a 4th and 5th grade teacher and as a Certified Substitute Teacher for 12 years, since 1999. I can teach beginning and intermediate guitarists. I am a very good compositionalist. I can play rhthym guitar, lead guitar, sing and compose songs. I am a Christian musician, composer and song leader. I have written over 90 songs...some of them are very good. I took guitar lessons from a Guitar Teacher weekly for 3 years. I was part of the middle school jazz band, a worship leader in my church. I love playing rock and roll, 12 Bar Blues and Christian Songs that I either make up or play. I am an old Rock and Roll guy who got saved. I can teach back up guitar, intermediate and beyond intermediate lead guitar, Christian music. I can teach you to read chords, music and I am currently going through a book called Fretboard Logic II.

I trained with Direct Instruction small group phonics. I train in five parts to begin with: phonemic awareness, phonics, blends, diagraphs, vocabulary, comprehension, fluency and finding a love for reading, writing, learning and listening. I use timed tests, word count, accuracy, fluency and charts for charting student progress in their reading fluency, accuracy and comprehension.

I have taught reading, writing and math to my students especially from 2nd grade through 5th grade. I have over 14 years of experience instructing students at the elementary level I would be very happy to teach reading comprehension, word identification, decoding, phonics, blends, suffixes, affixes and vocabulary, or we can do whatever you would like me to instruct. Hello. My mother served as an Elementary teacher, and as a Tutor for me. She was and still is excellent. I can teach you the strategies and skills that she taught me. After she tutored me in fifth grade and showed me how to decode spelling words, I won the spelling bee that year. My tutoring students have had a tremendous amount of success using my mom's methods, and so have I! I went on to the district spelling bee. Nothing that I have used has helped my students move up in their spelling levels that I know of. I have to give tribute to my mom for this strategy. It is addictive, fun and it works for most other classes. It is a no-fail approach.
Study Skills

I taught a course at the middle school level on study skills, and I've put into practice Dr. Robert Marzano's, "Strategies That Work," since 2004 in hundreds of classrooms. I am a student as well but still have a Master's Degree in Teaching Special Education. We'll use tested and proven, researched strategies and methodologies for your child or student. Lessons will be filled with strategies tailored toward to the student. We will also use outside resources in order to produce Pre and Post Tests with Results in Reading Fluency and Sight Word retention. Other Topics may include: Fluency in reading. Organizing Math Word Problems. This course is for Elementary through Intermediate Middle Schools levels especially.

Hello, Vocabulary is one of the most wonderful tools that a human being can own. It is the weapon that I use to do what is right. I am a happy to say that I can teach your student how to understand more of the English dialect. I am also gifted in knowing Espanol. Words fascinate me. I continually decode, and pull apart root words, suffixes and prefixes and show them to my students. This gift helps all people understand how easily we can all crack the code(s) or rules of the English Language. I love teaching English because there are so many deep and uncovered rules that make English and vocabulary easy to understand nowadays.
