Salutations! I am Haven, a first-year undergraduate student at Stanford University, majoring in mechanical engineering with a minor in computer science. I aim to instill confidence in students by making learning enjoyable and interactive. In order to achieve this, I begin by providing a lesson plan, taking in prior concepts and real-world applications as motivation. This will build intuition followed by an abstract understanding of the material. Following this, I plan to provide collaborative examples, guided practice and eventually assisted independent exercises, adjusting the types of questions and their difficulty to maximize students' understanding of the content. At the end, I plan to allow for a brief reflection where students can verify their grasp on the subject. This process will remain flexible depending on the students' needs.
I have experience in teaching both a classroom and one-on-one. In high school, I served as an AP Computer Science Principles teacher assistant for one semester. During my time, I created engaging lesson plans to support students at the classroom and individual level. I have also tutored my peers and friends on topics such as Algebra and Calculus I, helping them understand abstract concepts intuitively, which allowed them to apply these ideas to their problems. Through these approaches, I have learned to adapt my approaches based on students' learning styles and pace.
I believe that every student can succeed with the right guidance. I look forward to helping you or your student build confidence and competence in Algebra and related topics. Please feel free to contact me and ask questions. I would love to be able to discuss your goals and how we can achieve them.
