Richard is also a composer for concert stage, video games, TV and film. Over the years 2013 & 14, he has scored two feature films, "Stealing Time" (drama) and "The Dark" (horror). He has been a featured composer at Sundance. Richard was also chosen among 12 composers worldwide to participate in the prestigious ASCAP Film Composers’ Workshop, composing, arranging, conducting and recording with the Hollywood Studio Orchestra at 20th C. Fox.
His concert works include "Poe-etic Reflexions" (piano trio), "If" (mixed chamber ensemble), "Winter for Ivan" (cello & orchestra), and "The Jester's Waltz" (piano solo). He is currently composing "Phantasy on 3 Ancient Christmas Carols" for violin alone.
Maintaining a 4.0 GPA, graduating from 2 colleges with High Honors, Richard has earned Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Music. He is an avid proponent of inspiring accomplished and developing musicians of all ages. He currently works with several violin students in the Nevada County & Placer County areas, and teaches several composition / theory, as well as Sibelius Music Notation students in his studio and online worldwide via Skype.
His philosophy about teaching involves the concept of an effortless, natural approach mentally and physically to playing the instrument and creating music. When he is conveying a particular notion, exercise or thought to a student during a session, Richard does not rest until the student truly demonstrates mastery or understanding of the skill.
