I tutored introductory physics at the college level as an assistant for the physics department at California Lutheran University for a semester and tutored a semester of precalculus, chemistry and pre-algebra as a private tutor at the high school and middle school levels. I value practical application of STEM knowledge and have experience working in a variety of lab settings as a student, assistant and technician. I am always learning and relearning as the demands of the field evolve and am no stranger to the confusion and uncertainty that inevitably arises when that next challenge comes.
As a tutor, I focus on identifying points of confusion and finding various ways to remediate confusion through the Socratic method, lecturing and practice problems. I encourage the implementation of external resources and identifying tools for self-learning as well as increased communication with available colleagues and teachers for improved learning outcomes.
