Hi, I'm Madhan! I am currently a junior at the University of California, Santa Barbara pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering. Math has always been the foundation of my education, and I love helping students build the same confidence and problem-solving skills that have helped me succeed in my coursework. I really like tutoring middle school math because I believe that's the critical age where students either learn to love math or start to feel intimidated by it.

I bring over a year of professional tutoring experience from my time as an instructor at Mathnasium, where I worked with over 100 students ranging from kindergarten through high school. In that role, I provided both one-on-one and small-group instruction, adapting my teaching style to fit each student's unique learning plan and pace. Additionally, I volunteered at my local library for nearly three years, where I designed and taught a six-week introductory Python programming course to a classroom of about 20 pre-teen students. These experiences taught me exactly how to keep middle schoolers engaged, focused, and excited about learning.
My teaching method is rooted in patience and breaking down complex concepts into bite-sized steps. I do want my students to understand the formulas for a test but I also want them to understand the "why" behind the math so they can tackle future problems they haven't seen with confidence. I want to create a welcoming environment where students are encouraged to ask questions and make mistakes, as I believe that is the best way to learn. I offer a free initial consultation meeting so we can discuss your child's specific needs, current struggles, and academic goals. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or to schedule our first lesson. I look forward to helping your student succeed!
