Hi, I’m an Applied Mathematics student at the University of California, Santa Barbara. My coursework includes calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, probability and statistics, numerical analysis, and proof-based mathematics. I tutor middle school, high school, and early college students in subjects ranging from algebra and precalculus to calculus, statistics, linear algebra, and differential equations. I can teach in either English or Mandarin Chinese.
My tutoring style is patient, structured, and focused on genuine understanding. Rather than asking students to simply memorize formulas, I explain where the formulas come from, how to recognize common problem types, and how to work through each problem step by step. I pay close attention to the exact point where a student becomes confused and adjust my explanation using simpler examples, visual interpretations, or a different method.
I have experience helping classmates and other students in one-on-one study settings, especially with challenging concepts, homework, and exam preparation. Before each lesson, I review the student’s goals and course materials so that our time is focused and productive. My goal is not only to help students improve their grades, but also to build the confidence and problem-solving skills they need to work independently.
